Tuna mix on toast

  • mayonnaise
  • crème fraîche
  • 3 Tins of tuna in water (100 g each), drained and roughly chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 jar of silver onions
  • 1 jar of gherkins, cut into fine pieces
  • Toasted bread
  • 1 bowl of cress
  • salt and black pepper

How to prepare

A variant of a traditional Flemish tuna dish called smos-tonijn – where smossen means “muddle”. A very appropriate name for this tasty salad, which deliberately does not indicate quantities. Just try a little bit around. But the tuna should not be cut too much.


  • 1 Mix some mayonnaise and some crème fraîche and season with salt and pepper.
  • 2 Add the tuna, carrot, silver onions and cucumber to the mayonnaise.
