America meets Greece in this simple but delicious recipe, with American coleslaw and homemade Greek tzatziki. To finish the recipe, we pan fry the sardines perfectly, so they are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Enjoy!
1 Remove the seeds from the cucumber and grate it. Use a sieve and put a hand towel on top. Put the cucumber in it and add some salt. Mix it. Leave it in the fridge for 24 hours.
2 Crush two garlic cloves. Add one to two tablespoons of olive oil.
3 Take out the heart of the cabbage and slice it fine. Also, do this with the Chinese cabbage. Slice the apple into small slices and use some lemon juice to prevent discoloration.
4 Take the cucumber out of the fridge and put it in a bowl. First, add 100 ml of yogurt. Then add the garlic oil and stir. Slice the mint really fine and add it to the rest. Add some salt and black pepper. Put it in the fridge.
5 Set the temperature of the frying pan on medium to high heat. Add a splash of oil to the pan. Put some salt on both sides of the sardines. Pan-fry the sardines 2/3 minutes each side and don’t move them in between.
6 Mix the coleslaw with a bit of tzatziki. Add pepper and some salt flakes. Put some extra mint on top of it and finish off with some olive oil.
