Mackerel roll with lemon mayonnaise

  • 8 slices of sourdough bread or farmhouse bread
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp cream, a little bit lobed
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 bunch of watercress, washed and picked
  • 1 shallot, cut into rings
  • 4 smoked mackerel fillets of 80-100 g each, cut diagonally in half
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • pepper an salt

How to prepare

This delicious and simple lunch dish is made with firm bread and mackerel.



  • 1 Toast the slices of bread under the grill or in the toaster on both sides crispy and nice brown.
  • 2 Mix the mayonnaise with the cream and lemon juice. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • 3 Spread the bread with the mixture and put some watercress on top. Then place the mackerel fillets and the shallot rings on top. Grind some more pepper over the mackerel. Garnish with the lemon rind.
