This quick and easy to make tuna melt is classic American finger food. The crunchy bread combined with the creamy tuna mixture is a delicious combination! (Image: © Saskia Lelieveld)
Mix the drained tuna, red onion, parsley and mayonnaise in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
Spread the butter on the slices of bread and turn around. Divide the tuna mixure on 4 slices of bread and top off with the cheddar cheese and the remaining bread slices.
In a frying pan without oil or butter, fry the sandwiches on medium high heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Slice the sandwich diagonally and serve warm.
- 2 cans of skipjack tuna in sunflower oil (160 g each, drained)
- 1 red onion, chopped finely
- 2 tbsp. flat-leaf parsley, chopped finely
- 3 tbsp. mayonnaise
- 8 thick slices of bread
- 30 g butter
- 4 cheddar cheese slices
- salt and pepper
