How to prepare

This is a delicious recipe for introducing your baby to fish, plaice is one of the best types of seafood to start with as it has a lovely soft texture.

Preparation

  • 1 Clean the fennel and cut it into thin slices.
Halve the grapes, check carefully if all the seeds are removed.
Peel and wash the potatoes and carrots, cut them into cubes.
  • 2 Take a frying pan and heat the fennel in approximately 1 tablespoon of olive oil, fry the fennel until it is a little bit softened. Then add the grapes, carrots, potatoes and green peas. Top it off with the orange juice, the veggies have to be just covered.
Cover the pan and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  • 3 Check if your fish fillet does not have any bones in it.
After 10 minutes, place the piece of fish on top of the veggies, cover the pan again and let it steam for another 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, uncover the pan and let it simmer some more until there is about 3 tablespoons of orange juice left.
  • 4 Take the fish out and put it aside, your fish is done when it's flakey and falls apart.
Take the pan off the heat and blend your veggies into a smooth mash.
Serve the puree on a plate with the piece of fish, double check if the fish is absolutely boneless.
