“Let me take you to the covered Bolhāo market in Porto. You can spend hours here wandering, tasting, drinking, and watching locals do their daily shopping. Right in the middle of the market stands the largest store for canned fish, showcasing all the local brands. When I asked the owner about the can designs, he said: ‘Did you know that more than half of all cans are designed by one single artist?’ I immediately asked for her name and he even gave me her phone number. That very evening, close to midnight, I was sitting on a terrace with Ana Lisa. Over a glass of wine, I sketched out my idea: I wanted to create a new line of premium canned fish, designed by her. Brightness, happiness and deliciousness – those were the three words I scribbled on a crumpled piece of paper for her. The very next morning, she sent me her first designs. I was speechless and overjoyed; it was exactly the feeling I had envisioned. Ana Lisa took up her pen – yes, she only uses the computer at the very last stage – and from that moment on, she designed dozens of cans for our new Tins & Fins line.”

The art of packaging

In Southern Europe it’s quite common: canned fish wrapped in the most beautiful designs, often like tiny pieces of art. In the Netherlands, we’re not used to that – but why not? At Fish Tales, we believe that cans deserve more than just a label. That’s why we teamed up with Ana Lisa.

Her style is unmistakable: hand-drawn illustrations, bursting with color, character, and joy. No computer tricks, no shortcuts – just lines and shapes created with love and attention. Just like our fishermen, who work every day with patience, passion, and respect for the ocean, Ana Lisa pours the same dedication into every single design.

A celebration

Our cans are not meant to be hidden away in the pantry. No, these cans are made to be placed proudly on the table. Even before you open them, they bring atmosphere and turn any gathering into a celebration. Every design is inspired by the sea, tradition, and the joy of good food.

Conserveria's new look

With this collaboration, we’re giving our conserveria line a brand-new face. Canned fish and art, hand in hand. Because we believe that enjoying the most delicious seafood is also about experience. And that includes cans you’ll want to show off.
