At the Norwegian fish farms, the salmon is raised in large open-net pens in the sea. Each pen consists of approximately 97.5% water and 2.5% fish, giving the salmon plenty of space to swim freely and grow naturally. net pens. These pens are located in the Fjords with clear and cold water. One of the farms is in Hammerfest, Norway.
A thousand kilometers north of the Arctic Circle lies the northernmost city in the world: Hammerfest. The city has only about 10,000 inhabitants, and its main sources of income are connected to either oil, gas, or fish. Although not many people live in Hammerfest, the city has an international atmosphere with connections to people all over the world.
On Norway’s northern coast, winter lasts from October to May, with weather ranging from extreme storms to clear winter nights where the Northern Lights (Aurora) dance across the sky. Sigrun is working on one of the farms where our salmon comes from, which is located in Hammerfest. Hammerfest is a paradise on Earth for anyone who loves being outdoors in all kinds of weather.
